Social workers urged India to provide free air tickets to Indians flying home from UAE


“There are thousands people who want to go back to India because they have lost jobs or either on expired visit visas and they don't have enough money to survive due to COVID-19. The Government should consider the poor condition of these people,” said one social worker

Another social worker said "The government should at least subsidize the ticket rate and help those who are already struggling"

Apart from those who lost jobs or didn't received salaries, there are thousands stranded visitors and businessmen who don’t have the money to even feed themselves.


Demand:


They demanded that India government should also provide free quarantine facilities to those who cannot afford to pay upon reaching India. Social workers urged India that government should not allow airlines to take advantage of struggling for food and accommodation. At least partial payment should be offered by the government through the ICWF community fund


Tickets prices & Concerns:


An expected price of a minimum of Dh2,000 per ticket considering the social distancing rules the airlines are following. Stranded citizens are also expecting help from their government as they contribute a big share in country's economy by remitting money and the government should provide free air tickets to Indians flying home from UAE. Government should support citizens stranded in UAE as they do not have jobs and enough money to pay monthly rent and to buy meals for them
