Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus, according to his official Twitter account.

 
The 77-year-old actor tweeted on Saturday, "I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests, results awaited ..All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!"
His son Abhishek Bachchan also tested positive for Covid-19 and is in hospital with him.

On Sunday morning local time, Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai said in a statement that Amitabh Bachchan was in a stable condition with "mild symptoms." He is currently in the isolation unit of the hospital.

A living legend in Hindi-language cinema, Amitabh Bachchan has made more than 180 films in a career spanning five decades. Hailed by many as India's greatest living actor, he is revered in his home nation.

Amitabh Bachchan starred in his first film in 1969. Since then, he has dominated the silver screen for nearly half a century -- most of India's 70 years as an independent nation.

Amitabh Bachchan is one at least 849,553 people in India who have contracted the virus. Only Brazil and the United States have identified more cases than India.

Indian film star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aradhya Bachchan have tested positive for corona, while their mother-in-law Amitabh Bachchan's wife and Abhishek Bachchan's mother Jaya Bachchan has tested negative for corona.

It was reported yesterday that Bollywood versatile actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan have contracted the corona virus, after which they have been quarantined in the isolation ward of Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.

After the corona test of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, their families were also tested for corona, which was reported last night. According to Indian media, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aradhya Bachchan also tested positive for corona. Bachchan's corona test is negative.

Indian media say it is not yet clear whether Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter were taken to hospital or whether they are isolated at home.

He further said that Amitabh Bachchan's residence has been sealed and no one will be allowed to go in and out of the house while only essential items will be provided.

It is to be noted that Amitabh Bachchan had informed about his corona test positive on the social networking website Twitter yesterday. He had said that his corona test was positive and he has been shifted to the hospital. Has also been informed.

On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan also said in his Twitter message that his and his father Amitabh Bachchan's corona test has come positive.

He asked his loved ones and others who had been close to him during the last 10 days to take the test.

The actor tweeted: "Pristine white their layered dress, dedicated to serve they be, god like incarnations they, companions of the sufferer they, erased they their ego have, to us they have embraced in care, they be the divine destination, they fly the flags of humanity." Amitabh Bachchan along with his actor son Abhishek Bachchan, tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday and they were hospitalized. The actor has been keeping his fans updated through Twitter.

All four bungalows owned by Amitabh Bachchan - Pratiksha, Janak, Vatsa and Jalsa (where the actor lives with his family) - were sealed off by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday.

The country has 292,258 active cases, while 534,620 patients have recovered, according to India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. At least 22,674 people have died from the virus.

New cases have been rising at an alarming rate. Authorities in the country announced Sunday morning they had identified another 28,637 coronavirus patients over the previous 24 hours, the fourth day in a row in which the country set a new daily record for infections.
